Sri Lanka: Former Cricketer Muralitharan May Be Made Governor


Muttiah Muralitharan, the world’s greatest cricketer, and bowler will be seen in the new innings soon. Muthiah Muralitharan may be awarded the post of the governor for the Tamil-dominated province of Sri Lanka. As per the media reports, the President of Sri Lanka Gotabaya Rajapaksa has conveyed a personal invitation for Muthiah Muralitharan to accept the post of governor.

Muralitharan, a 47-year-old veteran spinner and the highest wicket-taker in the format of Test cricket, is in the group of three new members selected for the post of governor in the Rajapaksa government. Gotabaya Rajapaksa, in his tenure as the defense minister during 2005-2015, shut down the LTTE. Tamil minorities had not supported Rajapaksa during the elections due to problems faced by common Tamils ​​in the fight with the LTTE. Gotabaya Rajapaksa was summoned for the war crimes.

According to reports, Muralitharan may be entrusted with the responsibility of Northern Province governor of Tamil-dominated Sri Lanka. This news has not been formally confirmed yet.
