Criminal Investigation Begins In Deaths from Volcanic Eruptions

A criminal investigation has been launched in New Zealand on Monday on the circumstances behind the Volcano Eruption on White Island. For this, the police started their operation on Tuesday. Five people lost their lives, eight were missing and 31 were injured.

Police Deputy Commissioner John Tims said that various aspects would be considered for investigation in the coming days. It is believed that the missing people have also died and their bodies have been buried somewhere in the ashes scattered there.

Timms said a boat was sent to the island on Tuesday to launch the drone, but there are no favorable conditions. As soon as the atmosphere there is favorable, the drone will be sent again. The drone will accumulate the gases which will be analyzed and the safety aspects for the island will be considered.

Tourists who died of fear after the explosion are from New Zealand, Australia, Britain, USA, China and Malaysia. A total of 47 people were on the island when it exploded. This caused ash to spread up to 12,000 feet in the air. On Tuesday morning, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern said that there is no sign of life anywhere.

After the blast, the spot was inspected through helicopters and aircraft. It is now clear that there were two groups on the island. It is worth mentioning that the volcanic department was already monitoring the volcanic activity. After this, a warning about the explosion was also issued. Still the tourists were not stopped.
